I have two boys and they are the main reason for making wooden toys. I like making toys that kids want to play with. They should be safe, cool and they should be fun, in ways that we adults don't immediately - or maybe ever, see. That's part of the fun of being a kid. I remember it well... I do love making the toys - and I love the look on kids faces when they play with them.

My Toys
I build my toys with the primary concern of safety. They are built using all wood - locally purchased hardwoods primarily - no metal parts.
The finish is Old Fashioned Milk Paint. You could eat them - they might not taste very good, but it won't really hurt you [well, a splinter might]. There is no lead - none, zero, no way baby! They are safe.
A second major consideration is that they are green. They are made right here in Sonoma by me and my family. My boys paint the wheels and bases, sand, and I build them. The wood is all from sustainable sources, local where possible. The barrels are from Maine. Everything is made right here in the United States.
The business model we use here is similar to Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream. We believe that our stuff should be made here in this country, using materials that are grown and made here - all of it. We believe you need to give back to the community. We don't think CEOs should make a zillion bucks a year and have golden parachutes while everyone else had to scrape by. Nope, not here.
We think that people can actually start and run a green, socially responsible, fun company, making fun things for kids. Yep, we do.
